FOUNDATION STABILITY ENHANCED WITH Tensartech GEOCELL MATTRESS SYSTEM

REAL cost and time savings can be achieved with Tensar International’s Tensartech Geocell Mattress System when new embankments are sited over weak and variable ground.

Newly published literature shows how the Tensartech Geocell Mattress Foundation Reinforcement System creates a 1m deep stiff foundation platform over poor ground and mitigates the effects of differential settlements, reduces lateral spread of foundation soils and can also increase their bearing capacity to improve stability enabling accelerated fill placement and project completion.

The Tensartech Geocell Mattress System provides an alternative approach to expensive piling or other deep ground treatment techniques on sites where excavation of the soft foundation soils is not viable. It rapidly creates a stiff stable platform and allows immediate, safe access initially for operatives walking on the base grid and then, after its installation, for heavy plant and materials. The Tensartech Geocell Mattress System can readily accommodate the installation of vertical wick drains where required to further accelerate foundation consolidation. The Tensartech Geocell Mattress System offers reduced, even and controlled settlement to minimise maintenance on, for example, railway and highway projects.

The new Tensartech Geocell literature demonstrates how easily the Mattress System is fabricated on site from Tensar geogrids, and filled with appropriate granular aggregate, without compaction. This creates a stable platform over weak, wet or variable ground, including waste deposits and brownfield sites.

The Tensartech Geocell Mattress System has been widely used for major infrastructure projects over problem sites across the UK and world wide.
