Luc J. Mechelaere is the President Eastern Hemisphere & Global Business Development. Prior to this he was leading his own strategy consulting firm.
Until 2012 he served as VP Innovation and GM Advanced Cords at Bekaert NV in Belgium, a global technological and market leader in metal transformation and coatings. He was responsible for the business incubator, product development, and had global P/L responsibility for the specialty steel cord division which served the timing, hoisting and conveyor belt industry.
Previously he was the Vice President and General Manager Business Development for Building Products at Johns Manville, a manufacturer of building and mechanical insulation, commercial roofing, as well as fibers and nonwovens for commercial, industrial and residential applications. Mr. Mechelaere was responsible for the globalisation strategy and M&A.
Until 2004, he was Vice President and General Manager of John Manville Europe (a Berkshire Hathaway company) based in Bad Homburg, Germany and had overall P/L responsibility for Europe, Russia and Asia, a 400 MM$ business with 2800 people and 11 manufacturing plants serving flooring, roofing, insulation and composite customers.
